PRGF: Our Gold Standard of Care
For patients using our PRGF (Plasma Rich in Growth Factors) Accelerated Healing protocol: Hydration the day before your procedure is important! Make sure to drink several bottles of water.
Please follow our hydration protocol before your treatment as follows:
- 48 - 24 hours prior to your procedure, drink a minimum of SIX to EIGHT 8 fl oz. BOTTLES of water each day, or more if possible.
- DO NOT consume alcohol, teas or anything containing caffeine. Avoid diuretics of any kind 24 hours prior to surgery. (For Rx diuretics, consult your MD.)
- Please arrive early and request our team to provide you with a bottle of water. Drink the entire bottle of water prior to your appointment.
For the convenience of our patients, the Doctor or a live member of the Perio & Implant Team is on call even after hours for any urgent needs you may have post surgery. It is our goal to exceed your expectations in dentistry.
Sedation "SLEEP" Dentistry: Our Patients with ORAL Conscious SEDATION
- Please arrange for a ride to and from the office on the day of your surgery. Patients while sedated will not be able to be left unattended for any reason while sedation is taking place. Patient will not be able to drive home after surgery, nor operate machinery.
- PLEASE BE SURE YOUR PRE- ARRANGED DRIVER IS EQUIPPED WITH A CELL PHONE AND OUR PHONE NUMBER, listed above, in the event they need to call our offices from the parking lot for assistance into our elevator, as the patient will be groggy and sedated by this time.
- PLEASE INFORM YOUR DRIVER THAT HE/SHE WILL NEED TO STAY CLOSE to our office, and if they must depart during the procedure, AFTER SECURING YOU WITH OUR ASSISTANTS, they must arrive 15 minutes prior to check out to pick up the patient. We suggest the driver bring some reading material.
- Please pre-arrange suggested soft foods to have on hand after your surgery.
- Please refer to our Post-Op recommendations for food recommendations.
- Please have a responsible adult at home to care for you on the day of surgery.
Patients Having IV Sedation
- DO NOT EAT OR DRINK 6 HOURS PRIOR TO SURGERY: except water. If you need to take prescription medications please take them prior to your appointment. Any questions, please call our office. We reserve the right to cancel or postpone surgery if instructions are not followed.
- Please arrange for a ride to and from the office on the day of your surgery. Patient will not be able to drive home after surgery, nor operate machinery. PLEASE INFORM YOUR DRIVER THAT HE/SHE WILL NEED TO STAY IN THE RECEPTION ROOM DURING SURGERY. We suggest the driver bring some reading material.
- Please buy suggested foods to have on hand after your surgery. Please refer to recommendations on food list.
- Please have a responsible adult at home to care for you on the day of surgery.
Pre-operative Instructions For Surgery
- Any patients under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at the time of surgery
- Please wear loose fitting, short sleeve shirt and comfortable clothing
- Please wear flat-soled shoes with ankle support like sneakers (no high heels)
- Please remove contact lenses, all jewelry, and watches before surgery
- Please do not apply make-up, perfume or cologne on day of surgery
- Please remove fingernail polish on both index fingers
- Please brush your teeth and rinse thoroughly before surgery
- If prescribed medication at consultation, please take as directed prior to appointment. You may take this with no more than half a glass of water.
- Please have ice packs available at home after surgery to reduce swelling
- Please have Advil or Tylenol available for after surgery
- Alcoholic beverages should be avoided 24 hours before and 7 days after surgery
- Smoking must be avoided 24 hours before surgery and 7 days after surgery
